What is a Baseline Recording?

A baseline recording is a recording that is taken when all is well with your dog. This allows future recordings to be compared to the baseline to determine if anything is wrong. Recordings should be taken while your dog is resting and relaxed, but not lying down.

Baseline recordings should be for a minimum of 30 seconds but 60 seconds is preferable.

The normal heart rate for small dogs will range between 120 and 160 beats per minute. Larger dogs will have a lower normal heart rate, usually between 60 and 120 beats per minute.

We suggest taking recordings at regular intervals, once per month.
